Dentures in San Jose

Missing teeth create numerous problems for patients – difficulty eating, speaking, and confidence when smiling, just to name a few.

At the office of Victor D. Woodlief, DMD, we strive to offer a wide variety of options so that our patients have choices for restoring the function and beauty of their smiles.

In addition to bridges and dental implants, we also offer high-quality full and partial dentures. We also offer implant-retained dentures for those patients who wish to combine the stability of dental implants with the affordability of dentures.

Complete (Full) Dentures

Full dentures provide a solution for patients who are missing all their teeth on their upper or lower arch or who are facing full-mouth extractions. Complete dentures are typically created using esthetic pink resin and natural-looking denture teeth. They rely on your bony ridge and upper palate suction to keep your denture in place.

We strive to design dentures that look great and feel comfortable. If you are planning on complete dentures, we can discuss the look you would like so that you have a finished denture that makes you feel proud of your appearance.

Complete dentures may require occasional relines, especially with weight loss or gain and as your bone levels change over the years. Dentures last for about 5 to 7 years barring any unforeseen accidents or damage. After that point, replacing them may provide you with continued comfort and function.

When you bring your dentures with you to your regular dental exam, we will make sure they fit properly and do not have any damage.

Partial Dentures to Complete Your Smile

If you still have teeth remaining, we can use them to anchor a partial denture in place. We use your remaining teeth as a model for your denture teeth so that your smile looks seamless and esthetic.

Partial dentures come in metal, plastic, and flexible options. The type of partial denture that will work best for you depends on your specific needs. We can discuss this when you have an evaluation with Dr. Woodlief.

Over time, partial denture clasps can sometimes need adjusting for the best fit. You should bring your denture with you to your regular dental appointment so we can check the fit and make sure they are still comfortable for you.

Stable Implant-Retained Dentures

Some patients want extra stability when planning for their dentures. Having 4 to 6 dental implants placed on your upper or lower arch can lock your dentures into place. You will still be able to remove them for cleaning and maintenance, but otherwise they will stay put and you can feel secure when you eat and smile.
